Cutting off Toxic People!

Image
Cut off the Toxic people in your life!!!!  Live your best life now!!!  Grow with me or get out of my way!!! We all have seen these declarations, or ones like them, ringing loudly on all forms of media, from all manner of people.   So let's look at this process.  The first step of getting rid of something—or someone— that is toxic is actually recognizing if, in fact, they are harming you.   We often call toxic those people that vehemently disagree with us, those that make us uncomfortable in our own skin, or who we feel are hindrances to our purpose. I don't call these toxic people; I call them "poop heads"   (my grandbaby's favorite emoji) Maybe a better term for the mature would be "fertilizer folk." We all have them. The difference between toxic people and fertilizer folk does not lie within them, but you! "What exactly do you mean, ME!?!? " Lower your eyebrows and let me explain.   Let's look at the purpose of fertilizer....

One For The Books!

Image
We Survived 2020!  Now, a month into the year we can look forward to knowing, what did not destroy us only made us stronger.  2020 was one for the books!!! • We all survived things we never imagined even happening.   • We started new ventures we never imagined having.  • We ended things we thought we could not live without!  As we progress through this year, if we find 2021 is 2020's ugly twin sister, no problem because we already know how to handle her!   Let 2021 be the year our victories EMERGE !

I'm So Sorry For Your Loss

Image
Merry Christmas - Happy Hanukkah - Joyous Kwanzaa. Yuletide Greetings - Happy Holidays - Feliz Navidad. Seasons Greetings! So many ways to greet people this Holiday Season.  With all of these greetings, I want to add one more. I'm so sorry for your loss. During this Holiday Season, we are more than aware of the social unrest, economic uncertainty, and political decline in our great country. Whew! There is just so much to pray about. But, can we all pause for a moment and remember… As of December 11, 2020, over 300,000 people in the US have lost their lives to Covid-19. Over 300,000 families will be missing a loved one during these holidays. If you know of someone that lost a loved one this year, covid, cancer, or simply circumstances of life, please remember to reach out.  It doesn't take a long conversation, just a note to say you care.   Below are a few good texts to use. “Our thoughts and prayers are with you.” “I hope you feel surrounded by much love.” “We are ...

I've Retired. Why am I so busy?

Image
I have retired, why am I so busy? December of 2019 I retired from my position. No, I left my position. No, I was downsized out of my position as an executive assistant.  Don’t feel sorry for me yet! As I walked out the door I noticed everyone was smiling at me. How did they know? Was my name on a list telling the world what happened? Oh My Gosh!!!! As I made my way to Starbucks people I noticed people were still smiling at me. Was my notice placed in the newspaper (sorry, dated myself with that one) was my notice placed on Facebook? As I passed the mirror I realized why everyone was smiling at me. Because I had the biggest smile on my face and I was smiling at them!!! Go figure. I say all that to say this, transitions are needed, necessary, and really they are not as unexpected as we want to believe. From December 2019 until the executive order came down to “shelter in place” I was already sheltering in place.  Zoom meetings with mentees, food deliveries so I did...

It's In The Valley I Grow

Image
"Where have you been this year? In a Valley." My year began with the declaration of  The Emergence!   It has long been my heart’s desire to provide practical instruction for managing life's difficulties.  I wanted everyone to find their own Courageous Me! My venue was set and the classes began: Breaking Free ~ The Mind! Little did I know the Emergence was not just an external work for others, but an internal work for me. Today begins a new era for me as I am no longer on A payroll for the first time in 25 years.  For the past 15 years, I've worked for a great company, Cox Enterprises. Before coming to Cox I worked for Verizon for 20 years. God has been good to me in my career. But where have I been lately? In a valley.  I did not know why I was in this valley.  But I did know it was peaceful here.  I did know I was to be silent in this valley, I did know I was to rest in this valley and I did know God was here. Standing here now in my val...

Happy Mother's Day!

Image
Happy Mother's Day to all the Moms, Mommies, Mother, Grandma, Grandmommies, G's, GG's, Nana's, Nannies ... and all the rest!   Whatever name we embrace there is one thing that remains there same.  We would not be here without Mothers! There are certain years when celebrating Mother's Day is easier than others, knowing you are no longer here in body, but this is not one of one is not.  As I touch the right side of my head, right above the ear, I remember the barette that was placed there by your hand.  The fresh smell of the hot comb on a Sunday Morning... So, I will just say again, Happy Mother's Day to all the Mothers, and I shall spend this day in reflections.      Be Blessed. ****************************************  For more from CourageousMi, please visit :  A Open Letter to My Mother

DYI - Fix That!

Image
You are the most important DIY project you have!  Never stop!  Never ever stop working on you. You may have EMERGED!.  You may be bossing, owning it and walking out your purpose ... but are you still struggling with that? What is your that ?   *  a temper, causing you to snap at your teammates, loved ones or employees;  *  physical abuse which makes a simple hug impossible;  *  betrayal, which keeps you from believing the truth when spoken;  *  rejection, which hinders the possibility of authentic relationships; *  "their' adultery" causing you to close your heart from loving anyone *  "your'  adultery", causing you to fight shame through over/under compensating; And now, you find the emotions which are connected to your "thats" are starting to spill out at the most inopportune time.  Again, I say, don't you dare quit!   "What do I do?"  First, pray! Learn to clearly identi...
